A balcony over the water, with palms at eye level and the hills behind.
Sleeps 2 to 4 · 60 m² · one bedroom · third floor, lift · Four to fourteen nights
The whole apartment is arranged around one thing: the corner of windows where the room turns to face the sea. Sliding doors open onto a tiled balcony with a folding teak table, two chairs, and palms growing up from the road below. From the table you look at water and nothing else, and at the end of the afternoon the light comes back off it into the room.
Inside it is plain and calm: pale grey walls, dark wood floors, a long sofa that faces the windows rather than the television, a glass table for four. The bedroom is behind, quiet, with a wide bed and a window onto the terraced hillside. The kitchen is complete and square, with a dishwasher and the same green view. The shower room is new.
Sixty square metres on the third floor, reached by lift. It suits two people who want to swim before breakfast, and it takes four without strain when the sofa is made up.
The building stands on the seafront, one road between it and the water, and the apartment is on the third floor with a lift. There is a promenade in front for the morning walk, the swimming is straight down the steps, and the lanes, the market and the restaurants of the old town are reached on foot along the shore. The street name and the exact walking times are still to be confirmed with you.
Swim first, before eight, while the water is still flat and the promenade belongs to people walking dogs. Then breakfast on the balcony rather than out; the bakery run takes ten minutes and the view is better here than at any café.
In the middle of the day the balcony is in shade and the sea is the colour of a bottle. Take the shore walk into the old town in the late afternoon for the market and the socca, and eat late, the way people do here.
For a day away, the coast train runs east into Italy and west along the Riviera. Ask us and we will tell you which stop is worth the ticket that week.
